General Health:

  • Web MD providing services that help consumers, health care providers navigate the complexity of the healthcare system, promote efficiency and reduce costs by facilitating information exchange, communication and electronic transactions between healthcare participants
  • Health Finder a free guide to health information, provided by the U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services, and a key resource for finding the best government and nonprofit health and human services information on the Internet
  • Health Monitor contains a series of newsletters and devoted to various therapeutic areas, such as arthritis, cancer care, diabetes
  • Alan Guttmacher Institute a nonprofit organization focused on sexual and reproductive health research, policy analysis and public education. AGI publishes many special reports on topics pertaining to sexual and reproductive health and rights
  • Association of Reproductive Health Professionals a non-profit membership association composed of highly qualified and committed experts in reproductive health, conduct reproductive health research, or influence reproductive health policy
  • Columbia University's Health Education Program a service provided by Columbia to make health and wellness a greater life priority through a wide variety of educational strategies, publication of brochures, handouts, books, and research
  • Family Health International provides research, education, and services in family health and HIV/AIDS prevention and care, among the largest and most established nonprofit international public health organizations
  • Mayo Clinic Health Information offers health information, self-improvement and disease management tools, bring access to the knowledge and experience of Mayo Clinic for all of health information needs, from cancer, diabetes and heart disease to nutrition, exercise and pregnancy
  • National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases conducts and supports research that strives to understand, treat, and ultimately prevent the myriad infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases that threaten hundreds of millions of people worldwide
  • Sexuality Information and Education Council a national, nonprofit organization - develops, collects, and disseminates information, promotes comprehensive education about sexuality, and advocates the right of individuals to make responsible sexual choices

Reproductive Health:

On behalf of the Sexual Health Program Peer Health Education 2006-2007 crew, we compiled a list of websites for students that relate to sexual and reproductive health.
  • Sexual Health This website talks about everything from love and relationships to Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), and has topics relating to both male and female sexual health issues.
  • Gurl This website includes charts about STIs and birth control, information about menstruation, the male and female anatomy, and advice on how to decrease the risk of contracting an STI. The website is also a good resource on topics such as pregnancy, sexual preference, sexual feelings, and abstinence.
  • Association of Reproductive Health Professionals This website is geared towards the health professional - so it's not the basics. It's always nice to "kick it up a notch" and challenge yourself with new information. This website touches on the connection between nutrition and sexual health issues, e.g. folate, calcium. This website has interactive tools as well as an entire section on patient education materials.
  • Go Ask Alice! This site includes a “questions and answers” of the week section, which gives you the most recently published inquiries and responses which is updated every Friday. You can also find health information by subject via a search of the ever-growing Go Ask Alice - - - which contains nearly 3,000 previously-posted questions and answers.
  • MedlinePlus This site contains information on anatomy, STIs, sexual dysfunction, general medical information, and also contains links to other websites.
  • Womens Health Matters This website is wonderful to search for different types of information pertaining to women's health. The main goal of the site is to inform women of health issues such as aging, cancer, and reproductive health.
  • Teen Wire This website is fun, has useful information, and includes a video on how to correctly put a condom on!

Women's Health:

  • Women's Health America provide reliable, up-to-date information on a variety of women health concerns, women's health education and research efforts
  • National Women's Health Resource Center non-profit organization, dedicated to helping women make informed decisions about their health, encourages women to embrace healthy lifestyles to promote wellness and prevent disease
  • American Medical Women's Association an organization of 10,000 women physicians and medical students dedicated to serving as the unique voice for women's health and the advancement of women in medicine
  • Planned Parenthood Federation of America largest voluntary reproductive health care organization, America's first birth control clinic
